I set up the page ‘Stone Knapping’ to showcase the various stone objects I have created while flint knapping. Enjoy!
Thank you for visiting! Here are a few of my current projects.
I have five 2d paintings in the works. One piece will be entered in the BAA member show ‘Driven To Abstraction’ from February 5th to the 25th at the Wyomissing Institute of Arts.
I have also been stone sculpting, aka flint knapping, making stone knifes and arrowheads. My various blades are made from Jasper, Agate, Obsidian, glass, and Quartzite. I have been inserting the blades into wood, bone, and antler as handles. Pictures coming soon!
Thats right folks I have 2 paintings I’ve been drawing closer to completion.
I have a ton of friends and fans that have been wondering why I haven’t posted any thing new. Well peeps, thank you for your interest and support. I honestly haven’t painted much in 2010. I have only completed 5 and started 4 paintings all of which I have been uploading to my facebook profile but not this site. I will be posting more work and blogs. I now own a net book with better access to the web. So the new artwork will be up on this site shortly. Thanks again for interest and support! Of late, I’ve been enjoying the wonderful weather and focusing a ton of time in searching for Native American artifacts, and arrow heads here in Berks County PA.
The interview went fantastic regardless of my nerves being on edge. The feed back was great. In all I’d say 100%.success. I hope to post the whole hour on my site when i get a copy. Thanks to all that made this possible and to those that support me as a artist!
I will be interviewed live on BCTV by Ron Schira as a guest artist this Wednesday@ 6pm. To watch the interview via the net visit WWW.BCTV.org and follow the appropriate links. Reruns will be aired January 7,8,9 @ 6 pm. Check me out and please feel free to call the studio and ask questions.
On October 4th, 2009, I conducted a lecture/Q&A regarding who I am and what I do as a artist.
Tim Greusel and Ed Babiarz hosted the evening supplying food, drink , and entertainment. The event was held in a historic, Reading property, graciously loaned for use by Chris Miller. Connie Lienbach of the Berks Arts Council tapped me to be the 3rd of a continuing run of “artist talks”. Sponsored by Berks Arts Council these events are to introduce know and up and coming artists and to raise arts awareness in the community.
My brother, Jay Kijak, donated 3 hours to help hang the show Saturday the 4th. Over all I had 32 pieces of various sizes, mediums, and techniques, all showing my varied abilities. The show looked great and definitely emphasized the best of my expression.
The group of 18 interested individuals had been privy to a articulate and animated performance. I defined my abilities, methods, and thought process’ within my works in a energetic and attention holding manor. The group asked great questions and the feed back after the show was fantastic.
I proudly sold one painting (My Humble Thanks) and will be holding another for a future sale.
I had a tinge of anxiety prior to the event but the over all vibe was chill. I felt comfortable and really nailed the talk. Again, the lighting was perfect and the artwork looked great on the walls. The only thing I could have done better was HAND OUT MY BUSINESS CARD…duh!
I want to gratefully thank the individuals above for they’re efforts and support in my artistic endeavor. Thanks to all that stopped out and those that didn’t, but support me anyway
Bust my balls if you must; but, yes, it has been a looooong time since I updated this site.
So, 2009 is playing out exactlly how I want it to. I’ve sold seven “fresh” paintings , and hustle 3 “bar drawings” to intrested inquisitors! I currently have 6 artworks @ Goggle Works, outside the Berks Art Councils office on the 5th floor. I’m working with my business partner Mr. Andrew Moyer on some funky experimantal music projects. We have also stared working with a very tallented local musician, Wayne Hummel, recording, producing, and mastering, his acoustic (original) songs. The song “Walls” is still in the works but it is a very strong composition Wayne, Andy, and I are proud and excited to be showcasing upon completion.
I quit working my deadend job at Weis and will be starting my new job working for BJ’s (tee-hee)
I just dropped off 2 paintings for the Berks Atrs Council’s juried show “Art in the Fast Lane”. 1st thru 3rd place will have thier artworks reproduced on Land billboards across Berks county for 1 full year along w/ cash prizes and honorable mentions. My fingers are tightly crossed!
I have been producing a ton of works this year to date. I’m working way on larger canvas’ such as my latest @ 7.5′x4.5′ ‘ “Outre!!” I exclaimed, with fore and hindsight 20/20′ on exhibit @ Goggle Works
keep posted as I WILL be making many new posts and uplaoding more artworks!
